EDSA 25: A day of peace

People Power Revolution – an event in which people put together themselves to establish power which is not easy to condign – unity. It was the time when former president Marcos was taken down from his position and was forced to leave the Malacañang palace. By this time, two of the founders of the Philippine democracy were named- Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. and his wife Corazon Aquino. Despite of all these unlikable experiences, we can still see smiles from our dear fellowmen. And now it was time to celebrate its 25th anniversary – EDSA 25.
As a student, even though I was not present in the exact time wherein it happened, the first thing that I’ll do is to say “Thank You”. Yes, it may just be simple words that may not mean something in the past yet it had a great impact in the present. For without them who participated in the event, we students, who are living in the present won’t have our freedom. Freedom which our countrymen gave us with no return. With this very special gift, let us furnish it and maintain.
As a person living in the present time, I don’t really know what to do. But as a Filipino, I’ll reserve the day of commemoration for prayers. Prayers wishing full peace for the country and the whole world. In due respect, let us give time for those people who spend their time in fighting for the country’s democracy. Filipinos, I adore you!
